Day #1

Good morning!

Begin this time thanking God for today and for the work He has only begun in your life.   Just like making friendships anywhere in life, it takes time to get to know someone. The Bible is a mirror-image of God Himself.  This time each day is the way you are going to get to know the God who made you and loved you before he even created the earth.  Don’t be fooled, this will be easy at first and then it will get tough.  You will have to take physical control over your body and your activities to make this happen.  But, over the next few weeks, you will see an amazing change… you will fall in love… He will become your all.

With that said…

Let’s begin….

Read James 1:2-4

The whole book of James is about teaching God’s people to be doers of the Word instead of just hearers.  After all, the only parts of the Bible you actually believe are the ones you do or “live out.”  So what did God teach you in the above verses?  Talk it out in your own words.

Why do you think trials are good for a believer to go through?

Trials are tests that challenge your faith.  And make no mistake… they are tough.  But did you know that they were designed to make you more mature as a believer? When you go through tough times and continue to trust God, you become stronger in your faith and able to follow God in a better way. This is why the Bible says for us to count it all joy to undergo trials.

Can you think of a trial you have gone through in the last year? (It can be at home, at work, in friendships, etc.) What happened? How did you handle it (good or bad)? How do you think God would want you to handle it?  Not sure?  That is okay.

Read Matthew 4:1-11. How did Jesus handle this particular trial?

One thing we can get from this part of scripture is that Jesus went through trials too.  And if he did, surely we can understand that we will also.  Well, how did Jesus handle his trial?  Jesus handled this trial with Scripture.  When Jesus used Scripture, what did Satan do?

As we go through this process of studying God’s word each day, you will have trials. Remember that the more you study God’s word, the easier it will become to face the hard times in the way God wants you to!

TARGET of the DAY
Begin asking God to teach you thankfulness through trials.

  1. I have gone through some money issues recently, and i have given the stress of it to the Lord. He has come through for us every week. Sometimes i am amazed of where or how the money turns up. God is good.
