Day #10

BEGIN THIS TIME IN PRAYER.  Take out your notebook and write down what God is teaching you.  Be sure to write the Day # at the top of your notes because I will be referring back to these from time to time.

Read Galatians 3:5-12 again… it is packed with GOOD stuff!!

What does verse 5 tell us to put off?
Sexual activity outside of marriage
Sexual immorality
Sexual impurity
Passion
Evil desire
Covetousness (wanting what is not yours)

Paul wrote 5 things here to take out of our closet.  And they all fall under SEXUAL ACTIVITY OUTSIDE OF MARRIAGE.  Do you know why he spent time explaining 5 things that fall under this category?  It is because SEX is the dominant driving force within humans.

Let me explain… sex as it was intended by God, only within marriage, is beautiful.  It is EXTREMELY POWERFUL and it is the MOST intimate thing two people can share.  God, knowing how POWERFUL and INTIMATE He intended sex to be, knew that when not contained within marriage, it would DESTROY people.  Marriage is the only place it is safe and protected.  Satan has turned a TRUTH of God into something dirty and risky by changing the conditions and standards it was to be done in.  As you will soon notice, Satan will always take a sliver of God’s truth and pollute it with lies… and we will gobble it up willingly when we don’t know God’s word.

Example: As adults, we have seen many a sex scene on TV or in movies that have left lingering images in our minds.  Over time, if kept unchecked, these thoughts can multiply, especially if you continue to watch things that are not pure before God.  As I am talking this out with you, you may immediately be thinking- PORN, and that you certainly don't have an issue with it.  But, we still need to address the softer sides of this topic.  There are so many sexual topics brought before our eyes on TV these days that we are desensitized to it.  Listen friend, these things do affect our marriages far more than we realize.  Our growing thoughts lead to action, and our growing actions lead to death (physically, emotionally, and spiritually).  God knew what He was talking about in James 1:14-15

Where I would love to blame all of this on Satan… Satan cannot control you or me.  He does not have the power to get in our minds and know what we are thinking.  This is where we have to face a truth… it is OUR OWN EVIL DESIRES that put us in a place to be lured and enticed.  Take the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT “self –control” seriously!!  Pray and ask God to grow you in that area.

Click on the MEMORY VERSES tab above and test yourself on last week’s memory verse. Make some copies of the newest memory verse and the oldest one.  Tape each one in a place you will not miss it... on dash of the car, on the bathroom mirror, in the kitchen where you eat, etc... the possibilities are endless.  Do you know why I am telling you to do this?  Read...Deuteronomy 6:7-9!

Do you have any PRAYER REQUESTS?  Click on tab to the side and type it in.  Also pray for those that are listed.  Does this make you feel uncomfortable?  That is okay.  Simply talk to God like you would talk to a friend.  After all, He is the best friend we will ever have.

Click on the PRAISE tab above.  In this area, we need to start typing in one thing (or more) a day that we are thankful for.  Looking forward to seeing the things that you are thankful for.  This is great encouragement for all of us!!

TARGET OF THE DAY
No longer blame Satan for your choices and the situations you place yourself in.  It is your own evil desires that you are battling.  Practice “self-control,” even if it means sacrificing a good time and being liked to obey God!!  Continue to ask God about parts of your life that you have not allowed Him access.  He wants all of your life!!
